Women's 100m update

My turn now that the final fields are set and we've seen the form.

Shelley Fraser-Pryce looked to have plenty up her sleeve in the semi and she has run 10.70 in the past. Carmelita Jeter looks like she'd benchpress a car and did it a bit harder in her semi. Can't see the others doing any better than silver, they all looked to be at their limit in the semis.

Can't find a bet in this for the gold medal, I think the market is right and also have concerns over the legitimacy of both these two. They are running times that only drug cheats have run before, and Jeter has connections to the BALCO crew behind Marion Jones, Tim Montgomerie, etc etc.... Fraser-Pryce served a six-month ban for a positive doping test, allegedly for medication to treat toothache.

Might have an interest bet on Allyson Felix to land a medal. 6.2 on Betfair is far better than anything the books have to offer.

lay the field - my favourite racing strategy

Dabbling with laying the field in-running at various prices today, not just one price, but several in the same race. Got several matched in the previous race at Brighton, then this race came along at Nottingham. Such a long straight at Nottingham makes punters often over-react and think the finish line is closer than it actually is. As you can see by the number of bets matched, there was plenty of volatility in this in-play market. It's rare you'll get a complete wipe-out with one horse getting matched at all levels, but it can happen, so don't give yourself too much risk...
