Aldebaran Park Breeders Crown Series 20 (2YO Trotting Colts & Geldings) Final
Group 1,
$90,000 2240m
Tabcorp Park Melton 0345 BST, 1245 AEST
ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (SATURDAY AFTERNOON)

1 Kyvalley Frank (33/1): Only run was in the heat when running gamely in 4th. From this barrier should be able to finish top half of the field.

2 Wobelee (1/25): Shortest favourite of the day and the superstar 2YO Trotter of Australasia, three times G1 winner already. Could gallop and still win, could be what the sport needs.

3 Smashthemcalder (18/1): One of the better juvenile trotters in the state that has had the misfortune of running into Wobelee. Feature race winner at Stawell last month.

4 One Muscle Hill (40/1): Went within a head of winning one of the feature races of the season in NZ. Three runs since returning to AUS and proved a bit disappointing each occasion.

5 Majestic Eyes (150/1): Two runs for Ginger Gleeson and trotted perfectly last time but well beaten.

6 Meziah (50/1): More bred to be a pacer but is getting better and better and was really game in the heat. Nice horse.

7 La Grange (13/1): G2 winner in Sydney in June, got through along the inner to defeat More Shades Of Gold and Meziah in the heat. Drawn very poorly however.

8 More Shades Of Gold (12/1): Defeated One Muscle Hill at Melton two back but had his chance in the heat. Awkward barrier.

9 Whizzbang Dan (150/1): Maiden from nine with four seconds including a G1 second. Well beaten in the heat however.

10 Imperial Whiz (80/1): Already having start 30 for the season, trained by Alan Clark in NZ and Danny Mullan since coming to AUS, both trainers like to race them! Respectful run in Redwood but well beaten.

11 Runaway Success (50/1): Sydney sider that ran well enough in the heat on Victorian debut. Ordinary barrier draw though.

12 Bebubbalouie (150/1): Winner at Shepparton on Sunday, good effort from trainer Brett Shipway as he has had three 2YO trotters this season, they’ve all won and two run in Breeders Crown finals today. Poor draw however.

13 Tomahawk Phoenix (150/1): EMERGENCY

Ratings: (2) WOBELEE - (6) MEZIAH - (1) KYVALLEY FRANK - (7) LA GRANGE - (3) SMASHTHEMCALDER - (8) MORE SHADES OF GOLD - (11) RUNAWAY SUCCESS - (4) ONE MUSCLE HILL - (9) WHIZZBANG DAN - (12) BEBUBBALOUIE

Aldebaran Park Breeders Crown Series 20 (2YO Trotting Fillies) Final
Group 1,
$90,000 2240m
Tabcorp Park Melton 0422 BST, 1322 AEST
ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (SATURDAY AFTERNOON)

1 Our Renezmae (11/10): Kiwi that a respectful third in the Redwood but only fell in to win the heat, however gets a gun barrier draw here.

2 Miss Kaikoura (Scratched):

3 Princessa Ruth (22/1): Fourth on debut in the heat when running respectfully but not up to it.

4 Moonshine Linda (9/2): G1 Sires Stakes winner and went very close to rolling the favourite in the heat last time. 9/2 probably a tad overs.

5 Louieville Lass (150/1): Winner of one from 14 and well beaten at Shepparton last week.

6 Moresuccess (150/1) Drawn towards the outside and maiden from nine.

7 Amour de Frere (8/1): First-up for two and a half months in the heat when beaten 20 metres by Our Renezmae and Moonshine Linda when working in the run, however draws poorly here.

8 Meadow Valley Sky (25/1): Ran ok in the heat, draws to get a nice run here though and should get every chance.

9 Hades Sky (150/1): Had every chance in heat, not up to it.

10 Fairytale Hall (17/1): Had an economical run in the heat to get through against the inside to run 2nd to Aleppo Jewel, poor barrier draw, place best

11 Aleppo Jewel (2/1): Galloped first two starts but won easily in her heat when doing things right. However that was clearly the weaker of the two heats and has drawn the second row here. One of the lays of the day for mine.

12 Di Li (150/1): EMERGENCY

13 Allthemoves (25/1): Runner-up in two G1 Vicbred features this season. Horrible draw here.

Ratings: (1) OUR RENEZMAE - (4) MOONSHINE LINDA - (7) AMOUR DE FRERE - (11) ALEPPO JEWEL - (8) MEADOW VALLEY SKY - (10) FAIRYTALE HALL - (13) ALLTHEMOVES - (3) PRINCESSA RUTH - (5) LOUIEVILLE LASS - (6) MORESUCCESS

Woodlands Stud Breeders Crown Series 19 (3YO Trotting Colts & Geldings) Final
Group 1,
$65,000 2240m
Tabcorp Park Melton 0457 BST, 1357 AEST
ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (SATURDAY AFTERNOON)

1 On Fast Forward (8/1): Consistent in all five runs with three thirds, a second and a victory. Will find a few better than him but draws a good barrier.

2 The Male Model (33/1): Only the two wins up in Sydney from nine starts. Ran a fourth is his heat beaten 6.5m.

3 The Spanyen (150/1): Broke numerous times in the heat.

4 Aldebaran Prince (80/1): Had stride problems of late, no hope

5 Kheiron (15/2): Winner of six from 27 but disappointing the last couple of times. 15/2 unders but at his best a chance.

6 Clarkes Hill (50/1): Brother to Sundons Gift and classic winner of the SA Derby. Drawn poorly however.

7 War Spirit (9/4): Four runs in Australia for one victory last time in the heat. Fourth in the Derby two back. Drawn towards the outside here.

8 Claudys Prince (9/1): Only found Jilliby Babavska too good last week. Can’t see him reversing form but should be right up there.

9 Empire Bay (11/2): Fourth in the NSW Derby and second the last three times.

10 Truscott Hall (Scratched):

11 Mano De Dios (80/1): Somehow still a maiden from 12. Consistent but won’t be his day today. Weak fourth in heat.

12 Hammers Law (14/1): Game third in heat but can be disappointing on occasions and poor draw.

13 Jilliby Babavska (7/4): Has looked like anything since winning a Geelong Trial, called it, by 100m over Dance Craze etc. Galloped on his first few starts and lost his confidence however has since been able to win and is progressing, could be anything and one of few horses today that will be winning from a second row draw. 7/4 massive overs.

Ratings: (13) JILLIBY BAVAVSKA - (8) CLAUDYS PRINCE - (7) WAR SPIRIT -  (9) EMPIRE BAY - (1) ON FAST FORWARD - (2) THE MALE MODEL - (5) KHEIRON - (6) CLARKES HILL - (11) MANO DE DIOS - (4) ALDEBARAN PRINCE

Woodlands Stud Breeders Crown Series 19 (3YO Pacing Fillies) Final
Group 1,
$190,000 2240m
Tabcorp Park Melton 0532 BST, 1432 AEST
ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (SATURDAY AFTERNOON)

1 Shezallapples (33/1): 33/1 seems a very juicy price from the draw. Game 3rd to Petacular last week in Semi. A couple of meters behind the best ones but still a very good filly that will be finishing in the placings.

2 Gilty Hanover (30/1): Game run when running second to Petacular last week from the breeze. Definitely a place chance.

3 Petacular (1/3): A bridesmaid in these races, finishing 2nd last year, in the Victoria and NSW Oaks and this year’s Sires Stakes, won the juvenile renewal. Winner of 18 from 25 with six seconds and one third. This is her chance for a big G1 win and won’t get a better one.

4 My Casino Belle (13/1): New South Welsh raider that went close to beating the boys in the QLD Derby a week after finishing second in the Oaks. Should’ve beaten Partyon in a heat in NSW and failed by a nose to Petacular in a heat down here. Probably was a tad disappointing last week but you’d expect to bounce back.

5 Better B Chevron (19/2): Former Western Australian now prepared in NSW. Had won up to six in a row in Perth and got home nicely behind Petacular last week.

6 Perfect Look (60/1): G2 winner in SA of their Sires Stakes/Southern Cross series. Very game to run Petacular to 2.5m last week however draws poorly tonight.

7 Miss Graceland (25/1): Classic winner of the Oaks beating Petacular in April. Fourth 12 months ago, brilliant at her best but has gone off the boil a couple of times of late.

8 El Jays Mystery (125/1): Runner-up in her local Oaks in the apple isle to Shar Tin subsequent Queensland Oaks winner. Was game last week, gets an economical draw here and if she gets some luck is without doubt overs.

9 Partyon (5/2): Despite winning last two I don’t think she’s racing as good as she can. Poor draw here and despite winning this last year, I’m happy to lay her.

10 Lincolns Superstar (500/1): EMERGENCY

11 Six Elements (150/1): Ran to the line well last week but will have to do so again from this draw.

12 Be Not Afraid (150/1): Ran to the line well last week but will have to do so again from this draw.

13 Soho Angel (150/1): Ran to the line well last week but will have to do so again from this draw.

Ratings: (3) PETACULAR - (1) SHEZALLAPPLES - (5) BETTER B CHEVRON (4) MY CASINO BELLE - (2) GILTY HANOVER - (8) EL JAYS MYSTERY - (9) PARTYON - (11) SIX ELEMENTS - (7) MISS GRACELAND

Hygain Breeders Crown Championship (4YO Entires & Geldings)
Group 2,
$50,000 2240m
Tabcorp Park Melton 0607 BST, 1507 AEST
ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (SATURDAY AFTERNOON)

1 Shadow Sax (7/4): Much too good for his lesser grade rivals when first-up from another setback but in fast time. Gets the perfect draw to get back in the big race limelight.

2 Keep On Rocking (16/1): Easy win at Cranbourne on Tuesday, gets every chance from the draw.

3 Dont Hold Back (6/1): Very stylish easy MO win last Friday over C&D. Is either very good or very poor however…

4 Code Black (22/1): Sydney-Sider that was down the track last week after weakening out at Menangle, won back to back G3’s late last month/early this month up there.

5 Moonrock (7/4): Very easy win in a country assessed race here a fortnight ago. Has proven to be up this level in the past. Big chance

6 Real Stride (33/1): Weakened out last week here and was disappointing, on that run no chance.

7 Cant Refuse (50/1): Used to be a terrific as a 3YO but not the horse he once was and the draw makes it tough.

8 I Will Rock You (16/1): Stormed home here last week and drawn to get a nice economical run.

9 Carter Bromac (80/1): EMERGENCY

10 Courtsinsession (70/1): 5th but only beaten a meter and a half in a Metropolitan Maiden in Sydney last week. Still an outsider however.

11 Spiritwriter (25/1): Bit disappointing two weeks ago at Melton after having a soft run, LR winner three back however and should he receive the right run is E-W.

12 Itz Billy Hillis (50/1): Game run last time after doing most of the work, poor draw here however and stronger company

13 Majordan (13/2): Worst possible barrier draw but is absolutely flying at the moment and beat San Carlo in a G3 five back. With any luck can win for sure.

Ratings: (13) MAJORDAN - (1) SHADOW SAX - (5) MOONROCK - (3) DONT HOLD BACK - (8) I WILL ROCK YOU - (2) KEEP ON ROCKING - (12) ITZ BILLY HILLIS - (11) SPIRITWRITER - (7) CAN REFUSE - (4) CODE BLACK

Always B Miki Breeders Crown Series 20 (2YO Pacing Fillies) Final
Group 1,
$285,000 2240m
Tabcorp Park Melton 0642 BST, 1542 AEST
ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (SATURDAY AFTERNOON)

1 Passions Delight (20/1): Charged home strongly from well back and only pipped on the line. From a nice draw can be competitive.

2 Our Bettor Joy (4/5): G2 winner in NZ and has had the run of the race in both Aussie runs and should get a nice run again and prove very hard to beat.

3 Our Angel Of Harlem (7/2): Copped pressure when leading last week and just ran down late by Our Bettor Joy and Nostra Villa. Tipping her to reverse form with Our Bettor Joy.

4 Red Charmer (33/1): Won her heat in QLD at 10/1 and won her Semi last week at 70/1. From a good draw 33/1 probably nice odds!

5 Amelias Courage (80/1): Nose G2 runner-up four back so 80/1 definitely overs. Already having start 17, got tired last week but worked hard, will be driven on the pace.

6 Hows The Courage (100/1): Heat winner but weakened late in Semi last week after working. Drawn poorly.

7 Angel Of Arts (150/1): Big run at huge odds in Semi last week, huge odds again after this barrier draw.

8 Goodtime Heaven (33/1): Ran to the line well behind Our Bettor Joy, Nostra Villa and Our Angel Of Harlem in the Semi and was very impressive before debuting at Melton trials. Nice horse, E-W from economical draw.

9 Captured Delight (150/1): WA raider that ran respectfully last week. Trailing draw, not the worst.

10 My Sweetchillypilly (Scratched):

11 Molly Kelly (25/1): Three Emma Stewart runners draw appalling, all the Aussie chances have drawn horrible unlike the Kiwis. Had a long season, 2nd in the APG and won the NSW Sires Stakes. From this draw will struggle.

12 Nostra Beach (8/1): APG winner and Sires Stakes runner-up. Has the tendency to pace roughfully in the closing stages and at this elite level G1 that is a negative as is the draw.

13 Nostra Villa (5/1): Only defeat was last week when doing the work and going down a Half Head however will need plenty of luck from the draw.

Ratings: (3) OUR ANGEL OF HARLEM - (2) OUR BETTOR JOY - (8) GOODTIME HEAVEN - (13) NOSTRA VILLA- (5) AMELIA COURAGE - (1) PASSIONS DELIGHT - (4) RED CHARMER - (12) NOSTRA BEACH - (11) MOLLY KELLY - (9) CAPTURED DELIGHT

Tabcorp Park Melton 0717 BST, 1617 AEST
ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (SATURDAY AFTERNOON)

1 The More The Better (1/2): Derby winner in QLD that was game in defeat last week. Wouldn’t be taking twos on however.

2 Solid As A Rock (80/1): Via an economical run ran 3rd last week and despite being 80/1 should get every chance.

3 Our Little General (8/1): Last year’s winner although has been disappointing despite winning Semi last week he had every chance to score. Drawn well though however it has been a long season.

4 Albarock (150/1): EMERGENCY

5 Mista Lombo (150/1): Sires Stakes place getter last month and battled to the line last week, possible quirky draw.

6 Big Mach (100/1): Ran to the line well in the Semi but won’t be good enough and has drawn poorly.

7 Cruz (100/1): Terrific 2nd last week but the draw is horrible for him unfortunately. 100/1 overs though.

8 Stars Align (5/2): Terrific 3YO one of the best in AUS. Had a hard run last week in the Semi and providing The More The Better holds the lead he will be hard to beat late.

9 Wrappers Delight (40/1): Worked hard early last week but place best from the second row.

10 Motu Meteor (9/2): Very tough victory last week, has a found a couple a tad better in the feature races this year. Will go close though.

11 King Solomon (150/1): Classic runner-up in the SA Derby. Had a nice run last week to qualify, won’t have as good a run here.

12 Jilliby Kung Fu (40/1): Ran well from a poor draw in the Semi last week but will need to do so again. Sires Stakes winner.

13 Rock Diamonds (40/1): FFA winner in Perth two back despite being only a 3YO. Just run down by Motu Meteor and Cruz last week but the draw ruins his chances.

Ratings: (8) STARS ALIGN - (1) THE MORE THE BETTER - (10) MOTU METEOR - (7) CRUZ - (13) ROCK DIAMONDS - (3) OUR LITTLE GENERAL - (5) MISTA LOMBO - (9) WRAPPERS DELIGHT - (12) JILLIBY KUNG FU - (2) SOLID AS A ROCK

Woodlands Stud Breeders Crown Series 20 (2YO Pacing Colts & Geldings) Final
Group 1, $285,000 2240m
Tabcorp Park Melton 1652 local, 0752 BST

ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (FRIDAY AFTERNOON)

1 King Of Swing ($2.50): Five wins from seven starts with two seconds. Ray Green only brings good ones across the ditch, and David Butcher only comes to drive them if they're a chance, drawn barrier one was huge in Semi-Final win last week. At $2.50 GET-ON!!

2 Kasbah Kid ($151): 150/1 probably overs from the draw, will be a really nice horse next season, getting better and better. Charged to the line last week

3 Forte Courage ($151): Courage Under Fire colt that has only had the two starts.

4 Tam Major ($31): Runner-up in both the G2 Edgar Tatlow and G1 Sires Stakes behind Poster Boy. Draws well and ran really respectfully in Semi-Final last week. 30/1 probably tad overs.

5 Braeview Bondi ($61): Ran respectably in Semi-Final last week behind Sicario and Poster Boy from a good barrier, not so good barrier here.

6 Colt Thirty One ($5.50): Best Queensland juvenile winning everything up there. Had a nice trail into the Semi last week when failing to King Of Swing by a nose when just missing. Can’t see him reversing form from this barrier draw.

7 Beltane ($151): Ran a respectable fifth in the Semi when never really in the race however the barrier draw ruins it for him.

8 Joe Nien ($151): Should have a nice economical run and hit the line strongly last week. Should get his chance to finish as close as possible if good enough.

9 Poster Boy ($3.20): Winner of seven from nine with only defeats on debut and last time. Terrific juvenile but question marks where he will end up from the draw.

10 Sicario ($3.60): One of only three Mark Purdon runners on the day remarkably… Produced career best performance last week beating Poster Boy, earlier in the season in the G1s he found a couple too good for him but getting into form at the right time.

11 Master Moonlite ($10): Third to King Of Swing and Colt Thirty One last week when a game run. Didn’t run in any feature races in NZ and targeted for this, barrier draw hurts however.

12 Seeuinnashville ($151): Had an economical run to qualify for last week, no chance from draw however.

13 Tin Roof Raider ($151): EMERGENCY

Ratings: (1) KING OF SWING - (9) POSTER BOY - (10) SICARIO - (11) MASTER MOONLITE - (4) TAM MAJOR - (6) COLT THIRTY ONE - (2) KASBAH KID - (5) BRAEVIEW BONDI - (8) JOE NIEN - (7) BELTANE

ODDS LISTED ARE TAB.COM.AU (SATURDAY AFTERNOON)

1 Hotjane Bling (150/1): Ran ok in heat, gets every chance from draw.

2 Chevron Express (11/1): Has been very ordinary in her two runs in AUS and very happy to lay her on last week’s run.

3 Four Walls (13/1): Very consistent, G2 winner. Good enough in heat when first-up for just over a month. Good value.

4 Iona Spider (150/1): Ran third in this last year and should’ve won. Has not been the same horse since at all.

5 Dance Craze (1/2): Arguably should’ve won the Derby at Maryborough and won her heat comfortably. Beaten by Une Belle Allure in two G1s this season but gets her best chance yet to turn the tables.

6 Breezin Around (150/1): Battled into fifth in the heat, drawn poorly.

7 Hiding My Heart (150/1): Finnish-bred that has drawn poorly and a maiden from three. Ran home well in heat however.

8 Une Belle Allure (2/1): Three times classic winner this season of the NSW Oaks and both the Oaks and Derby in VIC, awkward draw but can’t doubt her class.

9 Andyou (15/1): Ran on strongly behind Dance Craze in the heat last week. Not the worst.

10 Skyeski (60/1): Consistent filly that was second to Une Belle Allure in the heat after having the run of the race. Poor draw however.

11 Kinvara Sue (16/1): G1 Sires Stakes winner that draws poorly here. Weakened late in the heat.

12 Downtown Miss (150/1): EMERGENCY

13 Bigonluck (150/1): Ran a very respectful 3rd in her heat. Draw makes it hard but 150/1 is overs.

Ratings: (5) DANCE CRAZE - (8) UNE BELLE ALLURE - (3) FOUR WALLS - (9) ANDYOU - (11) KINVARA SUE - (13) BIGONLUCK - (10) SKYESKI - (1) HOTJANE BLING - (2) CHEVRON EXPRESS - (7) HIDING MY HEART

1 Just Rockon Bye (5/1): 2nd to Ameretto at Bendigo in Breeders Crown Mares FFA, that form franked on Monday.

2 Heavens Trend (2/1): Ran well below form in the Mares FFA last Saturday and 2/1 a very short price after that below par run.

3 Nikkibadwagon (7/1): Hasn’t won since March but very consistent and draws well.

4 Whirily School (5/1): Just caught late in a MO-M1 at the start of the month, kept fresh for this, if driven with a sit is dangerous.

5 After Lunch (150/1): G3 winner in Tasmania earlier in the year. Disappointing on Wednesday at Geelong and not up to this.

6 Without You (12/1): Had to work too hard and was first-up for a month and a half hence down the track last week. G1 Sires Stakes winner against similar opposition before that, 12/1 nice overs.

7 Artoripace (150/1): Weakened late when only 4th at Kilmore a week and a half ago, no hope.

8 Rockabella Starz (100/1): Bit disappointing she wasn’t a bit closer last week however drawn to get an economical run and 100/1 probably over the top.

9 Rocknroll Magic (9/2): Weakened for fourth in the Mares FFA at Bendigo. Gets a trailing draw, winner of 3YO Fillies last year and not to be discounted.

10 Gina Grace (14/1): Sydney-Sider that was 2nd at G3 level last week, poor draw however.

11 Rockstar Angel (8/1): Weakened out of the FFA at Bendigo last week, draws poorly and not racing at her brilliant best.

It's all gone Pete Tong at Betfair!

The Christmas Hurdle from Leopardstown, a good Grade 2 race during the holiday period. But now it will go into history as the race which brought Betfair down. Over £21m at odds of 29 available on Voler La Vedette in-running - that's a potential liability of over £500m. You might think that's a bit suspicious, something's fishy, especially with the horse starting at a Betfair SP of 2.96. Well, this wasn't a horse being stopped by a jockey either - the bloody horse won! Look at what was matched at 29. Split that in half and multiply by 28 for the actual liability for the layer(s). (Matched amounts always shown as double the backers' stake, never counts the layers' risk). There's no way a Betfair client would have £600m+ in their account. Maybe £20 or even £50m from the massive syndicates who regard(ed) Betfair as safer than any bank, but not £600m. So the error has to be something technical. However, rumour has it, a helpdesk reply (not gospel, natur

Betdaq.... sold...... FOR HOW MUCH???

So as rumoured for a while, Ladbrokes have finally acquired the lemon, sorry, purple-coloured betting exchange, Betdaq. For a mind-boggling €30m as 'initial consideration'. That's an even more ridiculous price than Fernando Torres for £50m, or any English player Liverpool have purchased in recent seasons! As I've written previously there are no logical business reasons for this acquisition. from Nov 29, 2012 The Racing Post reported this week that Ladbrokes are nearing a decision to acquire Betdaq. This baffles me, it really does. Betdaq are a complete and utter lemon. Their only rival in the market has kicked so many own goals over the years with the premium charge, followed by an increase in the premium charge, cost of API and data use, customer service standards which have fallen faster than Facebook share value, site crashes and various other faults. So many pissed off Betfair customers, yet Betdaq are still tailed off with a lap to go. Around the world, Betfair

lay the field - my favourite racing strategy

Dabbling with laying the field in-running at various prices today, not just one price, but several in the same race. Got several matched in the previous race at Brighton, then this race came along at Nottingham. Such a long straight at Nottingham makes punters often over-react and think the finish line is closer than it actually is. As you can see by the number of bets matched, there was plenty of volatility in this in-play market. It's rare you'll get a complete wipe-out with one horse getting matched at all levels, but it can happen, so don't give yourself too much risk...
